The Top 25 F1 Liveries of All Time : #14

And the first (but not the last) team to get multiple entries in the countdown are…

Arguably the most “classic” of Williams liveries, the yellow/blue/white design – cleverly integrating two different main sponsors and the “core” blue colour – adorned the team’s cars from 1985 to 1993, and almost any of the cars would have been worthy of inclusion in the list. So why have I specifically gone for the last one, as driven by Prost to his fourth world title, and which memorably featured the number “0” on Damon Hill’s car? Well, frankly, it’s because it’s got Sonic the Hedgehog on it – and I’m shallow like that. Yes, the all-conquering video game character was at the height of his powers in ’93, and a sponsorship deal with Sega meant that not only did their logo bedeck the rear wing, but in a novel piece of branding, a “cutaway” drawing on the side of the chassis made it look as if Sonic himself was driving the car. Completely daft, but if you’re as much of a Sega boy as I am… utterly brilliant.

    Only Number 14?? Surely there’s some mistake….

They undoubtedly saved the best of this Camel/Canon style for last as this one totally rocked

The classic Williams livery – forever will be associated with a certain N.Mansell pulling out ridiculous over taking manouveres and lap times. This livery always looked right no matter what car was wearing it, from the bulky FW10 to the svelt FW15C it always maked the car look good.
