First day of testing sees more cars roll out…

Cor, it’s all very exciting, isn’t it? We’ve had the new Mercedes (of which I won’t bother reposting pictures here, as despite a drastically different chassis shape it’s still the same livery as seen last week), plus an official launch for the Toro Rosso and a quiet rollout of the new Williams. As there’s not been an official “launch” of the latter, we’re not sure that it’s definitely the final livery, but have some pictures anyway:

Same as you were, basically. It’s a nice livery, but it’s a little dull to see nothing in the way of refreshment – aside from that “Williams Hybrid” logo on the side of the monocoque. Maybe they still have a new sponsor to pull out of the bag… but I doubt it. I think what you see is what you get with Williams at the moment.

Meanwhile, not much to report from Toro Rosso, either – it’s much the same as last year, only with a new red nose pattern. But unless Red Bull are planning some changes, it’s still disappointingly similar to the “parent” car. It’d be really nice to see the team strike out with their own identity a bit more – something like this (artwork by “Jezson” of F1fanatic), perhaps?

The same boring Williams livery- but then I’ve come to expect that by now. With the exception of 1998/ 99, Williams’ have looked roughly the same since the dawn of time… why can’t they go adventureous with the livery for a change? Think of all the colours they could use: green, orange, yellow, pink, purple, gold, red… yet they always choose bloody boring blue and white… zzzzzzzzzz. (rant over!)

Toro Rosso- well at least they’ve changed it a bit, but I was hoping perhaps the giant bull would make a comeback. It still looks too Red Bullish to me (assuming that the Red Bull livery stays the same, as it surely will). At least the orange nose wil make it stand out amongst the crowd a bit this season, the ’09 car looked a bit anonymous.

I was expecting more positive things to be said about the Toro Rosso livery. I really like the red pattern on the nose. The car itself, meanwhile, looks rather boring except for the huge shark fin, which stands out as ugly, despite them covering it up with dark navy paint.

Granted, the Toro Rosso livery is becoming old and the giant Redbull on the sidepod should read Torro Rosso, this would be a nice gimmick. However I still ike the general dynamic of the design and the new nose gives it a nice touch.

Williams is the same as last year. Looks good, but it misses the last touch, it needs a compliment color I think.
